Tour de Force of Visual Imagination – WORKSHOP -Design your own poster

Saturday, October 24
1 pm – 5 pm
Round Rock Public Library – 2nd floor

The series welcomes Dr. Agnieszka Ziemiszewska, professor at the Faculty of New Media Arts, Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, Poland. She will lead a public workshop in which participants create original poster designs inspired by a word a participant chooses. One of the suggested words we are thinking of are EMPATHY, SUPPORT, and COMMUNITY inspired by our support of the Small Big Hearts Foundation that is holding its 10th annual fundraising gala in Dallas on October 17th.

A word from Dr. Ziemiszewska:

They say a picture can say more than a thousand words. But maybe a single word can become the inspiration for creating an image, a story, or discovering something important about yourself?

Words help us describe reality and express emotions, but each of us understands them a little differently. Their meanings are shaped by personal experiences, memories, and each person’s unique way of looking at the world. Kindness, empathy, sensitivity, freedom, peace… What might they look like? What colors and shapes would they have? Do we all understand them the same way? How can a word be expressed so that it’s understood at any latitude?

The workshop will be a creative meeting at the intersection of language and art. It’s a chance to look at familiar concepts from a completely new perspective and discover how fascinating and diverse their visual interpretations can be.

This hands-on workshop is free and open to the public.
