ATX’s first mural inspired by 𝔸𝕣𝕥 𝔻𝕖𝕔𝕠 is ready! It honors the art deco queen: Tamara de Lempicka – an icon, a remarkable artist, and a trailblazing woman. She traveled the world from Europe to Americas and conquered it with her talent and strength of her personality.
We will first meet at the mural site for an official unveiling and to hear from the fantastic J Muzacz, the muralist who recreated Tamara’s original compositions in aerosol. Afterward, we plan to continue with conversations, discussions, food, spirits, and music at a nearby gallery and food establishment. Some of the special guests include the grandaughter of Tamara, Mrs Victoria de Lempicka, and consul Karolina Śliwa from the Consulate General of Poland in Houston.
For the party, think art deco, glamor, bold colors, head piece – eclectic East Austin style. Bring your inner Tamara!
One of the many highlights of our research while producing the mural was learning about Tamara de Lempicka’s connection to Texas. It turned out that her granddaughter, Victoria, lives in Houston where in 2006 she founded Tamara Art Heritage, now a part of Tamara de Lempicka Estate LLC. We connected with Marisa, Tamara’s great granddaughter, who currently presides over the Estate and are grateful for her support in providing high quality images of the original paintings to match their true vibrant colors. They guided J, allowing him to create the stunning mural!
We are thrilled to announce that Victoria de Lempicka will join us during the unveiling event!
To quote Marisa: Victoria knew Tamara like a second mother and has many interesting stories to share as she spent half of her life with Tamara and vividly remembers their time together.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
